UUM ONLINE: For the first time, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), a university based in management and social sciences achieved an impressive advancement when it was awarded the 5 star rating in the recently announced Malaysia Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA) for 2017 and 2018.
Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani expressed his elation on UUM's success in attaining 5 star ratings in the Malaysia Instrument Assessment Research (MyRA) for 2017 and 2018.
"This achievement is a catalyst for greater success and I believe that we are on the right track in achieving excellence especially in the areas of research and innovation.
"The commitment and solidarity of the UUM denizens prove that this university, though not a research university (RU), is still capable of enhancing its R&D output," he said.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad said the success was the result of the hard work put in by all parties at UUM in boosting the research and innovation ecosystem.
"Based on the Research, Innovation, Commercialization & Society (RICES 2.0) blueprint, we went through several phases and it is anticipated that the year 2020 will be a year in which we will have the five-star success as a result of the continuous improvement over the last several years," he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of RIMC, Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah Abd Manaf said the achievement was one of the best achievements ever compared to the 4-star achievement of 2016 and the 3-star attained the previous year.
According to her, the rating was the result of the unwavering commitment of the university denizens who worked together to improve the university's R&D output.
She said that on the part of RIMC, with the support of UUM management, it would continue to improve its research achievements by providing an ecosystem that would be constantly improved to foster the culture of research and innovation to the grassroots level.
“RIMC would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all those involved including the School, the Data Provider Committee of the various centres of authority (PTJ) and all the staff in general for making MyRA 2017 and 2018 successful.
"I hope that the cooperation and synergy between the PTJ and RIMC will continue in the future MyRA ratings" she said.

UUM TERUS BERSINAR DENGAN STATUS 5 BINTANG MyRA
UUM ONLINE: Buat julung kalinya, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) sebagai universiti berteraskan pengurusan dan sains sosial berjaya mencapai peningkatan yang membanggakan apabila memperolehi penarafan 5 bintang dalam Malaysia Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA) bagi tahun 2017 dan 2018 yang diumumkan baru-baru ini.
Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan dan Inovasi), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad berkata, kejayaan itu adalah hasil dari kerja keras semua pihak di dalam memantapkan lagi ekosistem penyelidikan dan inovasi.
"Berdasarkan blueprint 'Research, Innovation, Commercialisation & Society’ (RICES 2.0), kita telah melalui beberapa fasa dan sememangnya kita menjangkakan bahawa 2020 merupakan tahun yang mana kita akan beroleh kejayaan lima bintang hasil daripada peningkatan berterusan sejak beberapa tahun lalu," katanya.
Sementara itu, Pengarah RIMC, Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah Abd Manaf berkata, kejayaan ini merupakan suatu pencapaian yang terbaik pernah dicatatkan berbanding pencapaian 4 bintang sejak 2016 dan 3 bintang pada tahun sebelumnya.
Menurutnya, penarafan itu adalah hasil komitmen tidak berbelah bagi dari semua warga universiti yang bersama-sama dalam meningkatkan output R&D universiti.
Katanya, di peringkat RIMC, dengan sokongan pengurusan UUM, pihaknya akan terus memperbaiki pencapaian penyelidikan dengan menyediakan ekosistem yang sentiasa ditambah baik dan bersesuaian bagi menyuburkan budaya penyelidikan dan inovasi sehingga ke peringkat akar umbi.
“RIMC merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada semua pihak yang terlibat termasuklah pusat pengajian, Jawatankuasa Pembekal Data dari pelbagai pusat tanggungjawab (PTJ) dan semua staf secara amnya di dalam menjayakan MyRA 2017 dan 2018.
"Saya berharap kerjasama dan sinergi antara PTJ ini akan diteruskan bagi menghadapi penarafan MyRA di masa akan datang," katanya.
