UUM ONLINE: Alor Setar - UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani recently had a meeting with the Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Dr. Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek to discuss the smart cooperation between the two parties.
Among the items on the agenda that were discussed included the organisation of various community service programmes with the local community using the Internet Centre (PIM). At the moment, there are a total of 73 of such centres throughout the State of Kedah. These centres are set up with the cooperation of the Kedah State Zakat Board.
In addition, UUM through IMBre proposed that SKMM assist UUM in an initiative where laptops are secured for students in the B40 bracket. This initiative is in line with the university's aspiration of inculcating knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to the people of the state of Kedah. Through the said programme, UUM will fully utilize the PIM facilities as well as the MCMC-UUM MakerSpace Lab under the auspices of the School of Computing (SOC).
The Vice Chancellor also proposed that SKMM render its assistance in helping the university promote the International Case Study Conference (ICSC) 2020 which is scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
Also present at the meeting were Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM CAS, Prof. Dr. Huda Ibrahim; Director of IMBRe, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zarifah Abdullah and senior UUM officials.
