UUM ONLINE: Praise be to Allah! Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has successfully maintained its position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2022 for Physical Sciences: Mathematics & Statistics.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who is performing the duties of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah expressed his heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to all UUM denizens, especially to the School of Quantitative Science (SQS) led by its Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Kamal Mohd Nawawi on the achievement.
Apart from that, he also congratulated and thanked the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ), which serves as the secretariat for the UUM ranking agenda, as well as all schools and responsibility centres that contributed to the success, either directly or indirectly.
“Let us continue to work hard to boost the brand of our beloved university on the international scene, particularly in terms of ranking.
"However, the ranking is a direct result of what we do. Our primary goal is to achieve excellence in everything we do. The university's rating will rise if we thrive in teaching and learning, research, and publication," he stated.
Prof. Dr Haim Hilman stated that it was everyone's obligation to place themselves in the greatest possible position in each ranking subject that had the potential to be mentioned.
According to him, no one can stop UUM from becoming the best university not only in the country, but also at the regional and international levels one day.
He went on to say that the key to this achievement was being united, respecting one another, and having the fortitude to make adjustments.
"We should never be satisfied with every success, but rather maintain the perspective that what has been accomplished is still not at the highest level.
“Hopefully, this success and achievement will continue to inspire all of us to do our best not only for the sake of the university, but also for the sake of the country, as recommended by Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, who wants all institutions of higher education in Malaysia to continue striving to improve the excellence of their respective universities," said he who urged all UUM denizens to embrace the Gagasan Akademia & Admin Holistik (GAGAH) 2021-2025 agenda, which aims to secure universities' quality and prosperity through widespread support and cooperation.
In the official announcement made at 7 pm yesterday, UUM was listed at 601-800 band for the subject of Physical Sciences: Mathematics & Statistics.
