UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor, paid a courtesy call yesterday morning on Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy).
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman conveyed to the Minister of UUM's desire to play a strategic role in the socio-economic development agenda through high-impact projects aimed at eradicating extreme poverty, particularly in the state of Kedah.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah stated that with UUM's expertise, it will undoubtedly be able to assist the community's hardcore poor in becoming more systematic in their involvement with economic projects such as agriculture, fisheries, and handicrafts, which will ultimately result in an improvement in the target group's living standards.
He added that the university, in particular, will play a role through its expertise in guiding, training, and leading the participants involved to succeed in projects which will be developed later.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr Haim Hilman also expressed UUM's willingness to offer executive programmes for employees in the Prime Minister's Department and agencies under it.
He added that UUM has always been committed to collaborating successfully with industry, government agencies, and the community in order to achieve inclusive and high-impact goals for the common good and the advancement of society.

UUM-JPM JALIN KERJASAMA PINTAR BASMI KEMISKINAN TEGAR DI KEDAH
UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan dan Inovasi) yang menjalankan fungsi Naib Canselor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah telah mengadakan kunjungan hormat kepada Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Ekonomi), Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, pagi tadi.
Pada pertemuan itu, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman melahirkan hasrat kepada YB Menteri agar UUM dapat memainkan peranan strategik dalam agenda pembangunan sosioekonomi menerusi projek berimpak tinggi dalam usaha membasmi kemiskinan tegar khususnya di negeri Kedah.
Beliau berkata, dengan kepakaran dimiliki UUM pastinya mampu membantu masyarakat dari kelompok miskin tegar terlibat secara lebih sistematik dalam projek ekonomi seperti pertanian, perikanan dan kraftangan yang akhirnya membawa kepada peningkatan taraf hidup golongan sasar yang terlibat.
Menurutnya, universiti secara khususnya akan memainkan peranan dengan kepakaran dimiliki dalam aspek bimbingan, latihan dan memimpin peserta terlibat untuk berjaya dalam projek yang dibangunkan kelak.
Pada sesi pertemuan itu, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman turut menyatakan kesudian UUM untuk menawarkan program eksekutif untuk warga kerja di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan agensi-agensi di bawahnya.
Tambah beliau, UUM sentiasa komited untuk menjayakan kerjasama dengan industri, agensi kerajaan dan komuniti bagi mencapai matlamat yang inklusif dan berimpak tinggi demi manfaat bersama dan kepentingan masyarakat.
