UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - In a bid to improve the living standards of the urban population, particularly the urban poor, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is ready to offer its expertise to the Ministry of Federal Territories in order to overcome the issue of poverty.
In a recent meeting, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor, expressed the intention to the Minister of Federal Territories, Dato' Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman said, UUM has always been open and ready to assist the Ministry of Federal Territories should there be a need to conduct research related to urban well-being, economy and education for the well -being of the local community.
During the meeting, he also discussed with the Honorable Minister the possibility of offering academic and executive programmes to the ministry and agency staff who wish to further their studies at UUM.
Furthermore, the discussion focused on collaborative opportunities between UUM and the UUM Alumni Foundation, which was chaired by Dato' Seri Dr Shahidan, in the areas of student welfare and UUM's competitiveness.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman expressed hope that the meeting with the Honorable Minister would have a positive impact in the future for mutual benefit.

UUM SEDIA BANTU ATASI KEMELUT MISKIN BANDAR
UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - Demi meningkatkan taraf hidup penduduk bandar terutama dari golongan miskin bandar, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) sedia menawarkan kepakaran kepada Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan bagi mengatasi isu kemelut kemiskinan.
Hasrat itu dinyatakan Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan dan Inovasi) yang menjalankan fungsi Naib Canselor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah kepada Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan, Dato’ Seri Dr. Shahidan Kassim dalam pertemuan, baru-baru ini.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman berkata, UUM sentiasa terbuka dan sedia membantu Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan sekiranya diperlukan untuk melakukan kajian berkaitan dengan kesejahteraan bandar, ekonomi dan pendidikan demi kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat.
Pada pertemuan itu juga, beliau telah berbincang dengan YB Menteri berkenaan penawaran program akademik dan eksekutif kepada warga kementerian dan agensi dibawahnya yang ingin melanjutkan pengajian di UUM.
Di samping itu, perbincangan turut memfokuskan kepada peluang kolaborasi antara UUM dan Yayasan Alumni UUM yang dipengerusikan Dato’ Seri Dr. Shahidan dalam aspek kebajikan pelajar dan daya saing UUM.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman berharap pertemuan bersama YB Menteri itu akan memberikan impak positif demi manfaat bersama pada masa hadapan.
