ASIAN HALAL LABORATORY INSTITUTE, UUM WINS GOLD AT IRIISE 2018

UUM ONLINE: UUM researchers took home a gold medal at the International Research Innovation, Invention & Solution Exposition (IRIISE 2018). The event was held at Universiti Malaya (UM) recently.

UUM was represented by the Director of the Asian Halal Laboratory Institute (AHAL), Dr. Risyawati Mohamed Ismail along with her postgraduate student Ms. Raihanah Hasaniah Abdullah from the School of Technology Management & Logistics (STML).

According to Dr. Risyawati, the innovative product formulated from the Sintok (the stem bark of Entada spiralis) extract helps to solve skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis and other skin problems caused by bacterial infections.

In this competition, UUM presented two cosmeceutical and health products formulated from the natural extracts of Sintok and Cochinchin gourd. The product made from the Cochinchin gourd- a nutrient-dense fruit, received the silver medal.

IRIISE is an annual International Research Competition organised by Universiti Malaya (UM) with the aims of cultivating an innovative culture among students and researchers while encouraging collaborations between the academia and industry.

IRIISE serves as a great platform for researchers, academics, students as well as practitioners from the industry to unleash their talents, showcase novel ideas, and inventions for commercialisation purposes.

IRIISE 2018 was opened to educational institutions and participants were grouped into three entry categories:  Category A for Primary and Secondary school students, Category B for Certificate, Diploma and Undergraduates from local and international universities, and Category C for Professionals/industry, educators, postgraduate students, general public, government and private institutions.

AHAL UUM RANGKUL EMAS DI IRIISE 2018

IRIISE 2018 acara tahunan yang dianjurkan oleh Universiti Malaya (UM) bertujuan untuk memupuk budaya inovasi di kalangan pelajar dan penyelidik dan menggalakkan kerjasama antara ahli akademik dan industri.

IRIISE menjadi platform kepada para penyelidik dari dalam dan luar negara, ahli akademik, pelajar serta pengamal industri untuk menunjukkan bakat, menterjemah idea cemerlang dan mempamerkan ciptaan yang mempunyai nilai komersial.

Penyertaan IRIISE 2018 terbuka kepada tiga kategori Pelajar sekolah rendah dan menengah, pelajar peringkat sijil, diploma, ijazah sarjana muda dari universiti tempatan dan antarabangsa serta golongan profesional/industri, pendidik, pelajar pasca siswazah dan masyarakat. 

Sementara itu, Raihanah Hasaniah Abdullah bersyukur atas kemenangan yang tidak disangka-sangka kerana berdepan saingan sengit dari universiti yang hebat dalam pertandingan tiga hari itu.                                        

“Alhamdulillah, UUM memenangi 2 anugerah hasil dedikasi dan usaha yang tidak pernah kenal erti penat dan jemu, ini merupakan pertandingan inovasi pertama yang disertai oleh kami yang menjalankan penyelidikan di AHAL, UUM.

“Semasa pertandingan berlangsung, produk UUM berjaya menarik perhatian ramai termasuk pesaing, pelawat industri malah ada yang membeli prototaip yang dipamerkan sekali gus memberi pengalaman berharga buat saya,” luahnya.
