UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - For mutual benefit, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) have reached an agreement to merge their expertise.
The consensus was derived from the follow-up visit made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani onto the Chief Executive of BSN, Datuk Yunos Abdul Ghani to discuss cooperation between the two institutions recently.
The Vice-Chancellor said the merger of expertise would bring about benefits to all UUM stakeholders namely the University, staff and students.
According to him, during the meeting, BSN and UUM agreed to increase the promotion of BSN visa cards through UUM Alumni Centre which is expected to generate income to UUM through the revenue sharing method in cooperation with BSN.
He said the collaboration was part of the BSN Student Residential Hall (INASIS) branding programme a few years ago.
"In addition, the employability aspect of UUM graduates (GE) was also discussed. The percentage of GE can be increased through the student entrepreneurship and social venture programmes initiated by BSN.
“UUM's cooperation with the industry is crucial to improve the University's reputation among employers. It is important for the University to have the capability to produce competent graduates,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor added that cooperation with the industry will also continue to be given priority from time to time.
Meanwhile, Datuk Yunos said BSN was also ready to offer some special financing to UUM staff.
On the occasion of the courtesy call, the Vice-Chancellor also extended invitations to BSN staff to continue their studies at UUM Kuala Lumpur Campus (UUMKL).
Also present at the meeting were Vice- Presidents of BSN, Mdm. Aizurra Mellissa Muzammil and Mdm. Norainah Mohamad Zakuan; Provost of UUMKL, Prof. Dr. Shahimi Mohtar and the Director of Business Strategy and Development, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hijattulah Abdul Jabbar.

UUM DAN BSN GABUNG KEPAKARAN UNTUK MANFAAT BERSAMA
UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - Demi manfaat bersama, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) dan Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) telah mencapai kesepakatan untuk bergabung kepakaran yang dimiliki.
Hasil muafakat itu adalah susulan daripada kunjungan hormat Naib Canselor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani ke atas Ketua Eksekutif BSN, Datuk Yunos Abdul Ghani bagi membincangkan kerjasama antara kedua institusi itu, baru-baru ini.
Naib Canselor berkata, gabungan kepakaran itu kelak akan memanfaatkan semua pemegang taruh UUM termasuk universiti, staf dan pelajar.
Menurutnya, dalam pertemuan itu, BSN dan UUM bersetuju untuk meningkatkan promosi kad visa BSN menerusi Pusat Alumni UUM yang mana ia dijangka dapat menjana pendapatan kepada UUM melalui kaedah perkongsian hasil oleh BSN.
Katanya, kerjasama itu merupakan sebahagian daripada program penamaan INASIS BSN beberapa tahun dahulu.
“Di samping itu, aspek kebolehpasaran graduan (GE) UUM juga turut dibincangkan dengan akan meningkatkan peratus GE melalui program ‘student entrepeneurship’ dan ‘social venture’ oleh BSN.
“Kerjasama UUM dengan pihak industri sangat penting untuk meningkatkan reputasi universiti dalam kalangan majikan. Ia penting bagi universiti untuk memiliki kapasiti melahirkan graduan berwibawa,” katanya.
Tambah Naib Canselor, kerjasama dengan pihak industri juga akan terus diberikan keutamaan dari semasa ke semasa.
Sementara itu, Datuk Yunos berkata, pihaknya juga bersedia menawarkan beberapa pembiayaan khusus kepada staf UUM.
Kesempatan kunjungan hormat tersebut, Naib Canselor telah mempelawa staf BSN untuk melanjutkan pengajian di UUM Kampus Kuala Lumpur (UUMKL).
Hadir sama, Naib Presiden BSN, Aizurra Mellissa Muzammil dan Norainah Mohamad Zakuan; Provos UUMKL, Prof. Dr. Shahimi Mohtar dan Pengarah Jabatan Strategik dan Pembangunan Perniagaan, Prof. Madya Dr. Hijattulah Abdul Jabbar.
